SB 28, also known as Claire and Lola's Law, was signed into law by Governor Laura Kelly in May 2019. The bill prevents state authorities from taking child protective actions against individuals who take CBD oil according to a physician's recommendation.

House Bill 2167

In April 2019, the state government ordered the KDA to develop a plan to the USDA (US Department of Agriculture). This document described planned measures by which the KDA should regulate industrial hemp production in South Carolina. The Commercial Industrial Hemp Program was also created as part of this legislation, allowing for commercial hemp cultivation.
